Kazakhstan proposes to host a summit of the nuclear states in Astana
Kazakh Foreign Minister Khairat Abderrahmanov said during his meeting with UN General Assembly President Miroslav Lajcak on Wednesday that his country is proposing a nuclear summit on nuclear security in Astana.

In particular, there was talk of convening a summit of nuclear-weapon States and unifying the efforts of all States within the existing nuclear-weapon-free zones.

Kazakhstan is ready to begin the process of updating the global nuclear security summit and hold its meeting in Astana, he said.

According to the Foreign Press Office, such initiatives were put forward by the Kazakh side during the inauguration ceremony of the International Atomic Energy Agency's low-enriched uranium bank, where President Nursultan Nazarbayev proposed to codify the actual situation in all countries with nuclear weapons, He called for a summit of nuclear powers to discuss together ways to solve this global problem.
