Putin: Russia ready to help Cuba to remove the effects of Hurricane "Irma"
Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Sunday that Russia was ready to help Cuba remove the effects of Hurricane Irma.

"Yes, we are ready, the emergency minister has offered to help him," Putin said in response to a question from a Cuban journalist after voting at the polling station for municipal elections in Moscow.

It was reported earlier that Hurricane Irma had fallen to the third degree and continued to move over Cuba's northern coast.

The head of the emergency ministry, Vladimir Pushkhov, said Saturday that Russia had sent aid to the Caribbean countries affected by typhoon Irma.

The Cuban authorities announced Friday they had evacuated some 10,000 tourists, most of them Canadians from its coastal resorts, and raised disaster warning to its maximum as hurricane Erma quickly approached the largest Caribbean islands.
