Algeria: 17 people, including 11 foreigners, were killed in a car crash on the border with Mali
The civil defense said Thursday that a collision between two transport vehicles killed 17 people, including 11 citizens from sub-Saharan Africa in southern Algeria on the border with Mali.

"The incident killed 17 people, including 11 foreigners from sub-Saharan Africa," said Colonel Farouq Achour, who was killed in the blast.

Five people, four of them from sub-Saharan Africa, were wounded and wounded and taken to hospital, he said. The nationality of the foreign victims was not disclosed.

In recent years, Algeria has become a preferred destination for thousands of African citizens, and NGOs estimate the number of migrants to be around 100,000.
