A British police officer was dismissed from the service on charges of going to a kebab meal while he was on duty as his colleagues worried about him.

Richard Masgriff, 52, was dismissed without warning from the Cambridge police force after a misconduct hearing concluded that the officer had violated professional standards for honesty, integrity, duties and responsibilities, the Guardian reported.

The dismissed officer was said to have disappeared from the police station to meet a woman and her friends and then drove the car to an area where he had had a kebab meal. His fellow officers had carried out an emergency search of him for concern for his safety.
