The Faculty of Medicine, University of Alexandria, underwent surgery to separate the conjunctual twins at Shatby University Hospital, Department of Pediatric Surgery.

 Dr. Saber Wahib, a professor of pediatric surgery and congenital malformations, said the adhesion to the twins was in the chest regions of the heart, lung and diaphragm membrane. The abdominal area was adipose and had small intestine, and congenital heart defects.

In a statement to the press, Wahib said that the twins had been anesthetized by a distinguished group of doctors specializing in anesthesia of newborns, headed by Dr. Saber Wahib, Dr. Tamer Ghoneim and Dr. Alia Rabee.
