In the 2019 edition of the Sundance festival a controversial documentary about accusations of sexual abuse against him has been announced. In that framework, Macaulay Culkin, one of his great friends and advocates, offered an interview in which he spoke of the virtues of the person beyond the artist.

In dialogue with the podcast "Inside of You" - which can be heard on YouTube - the protagonist of the movie "My Poor Little Angel" referred to the criticism that caused his friendship with the interpreter of "Thriller".

"A lot of great things were happening to me and everything happened so fast (after the fame that I achieved with the film) and I think (Michael Jackson) identified with that," said the 38-year-old actor.

"It's easy to try to think or say it was strange, but it was not, for me it made sense and, in the end, we became friends," he added.

THE FACE THAT NO ONE SAW

The former children's idol said that only Michael Jackson could understand how overwhelming it was to have achieved popularity at age 10, because the singer had the same thing when he became famous with the musical group The Jackson 5 family.

"No one around me had any idea what was going on and he had gone through the same situation and just wanted to make sure I was not alone," he said, as seen in this YouTube video:

Also, Macaulay Culkin said that everyone questioned his friendship with Michael Jackson because the singer "was the most famous person in the world", but did not question his other friends.

"For me it was so normal and mundane, I know it's a big problem for everyone else, but for me it was a very normal friendship," the actor said of tapes like "Ricky Ricón".

Finally, the actor remembered Michael Jackson as a person "fucking incredible". "It was hilarious, it was sweet ... people do not know how much fun it was," he said.

Michael Jackson, who died in 2009 at age 50 of an overdose of drugs, was charged with child abuse in 2005; however, he was acquitted of all charges.
